More Blessed To Give Than Receive
How often have we heard these words “It is more blessed to give than receive” being cited by someone who is seeking to be on the receiving end rather than being the giver! =))
Did you know that this saying is actually a verse found in the Bible and regarded by some as one of the beatitudes?
35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35 King James Version (KJV)
The definition of beatitude is “a state of utmost bliss” and this phrase may be interpreted to mean
- “It is more blessed to give than to receive”,
- “There is more happiness in giving than receiving”, or
- “It is richer or more fortunate to give than to receive”.
(The Greek word makarios was a longer form of makar which meant such things as “blessed” and “happy”, and even “fortunate” and “rich”.)
Wouldn’t you agree that in today’s world where over a billion people still live in extreme poverty, it is certainly happier, richer and more blessed, if one is in a position to help others, instead of being in need of help?
Although Australia is seen as a land of opportunity, we needn’t look far to find pockets in need and stomachs to fill.
There are numerous occasions throughout the year when we give and receive gifts ~ birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Anniversaries, Weddings, Christmas, Farewells, Boss’ Day, etc.
Finding that unique gift for someone special can sometimes be quite a challenging task. Or what do you give someone who already has everything he/she needs? No need to scratch your head… we at EDEN’s Gems are here to help with our gift ideas! 🙂
We hope to become your destination to look for the perfect gift for all occasions and be symbolic of beautiful gifts that inspire and your receiver knows that they have been picked with love.
In giving a gift from EDEN’s Gems, we also want you to know that you are partners with us in lending support to feed the hungry and giving hope to those who are in need.
I can’t think of a better way to gift than one that gives joy to the giver, the receiver and more…
